Earn your arsenal!
A horizontally-scrolling shooter in the Gradius tradition — pick a hull, fly the length of a hand-built stage, and spend what you collect on the weapons you want.
The game
SGL is the Space Guardian League, and the MK-3 is the hull they put you in. Starfighter SGL MK-3 is a horizontally-scrolling shooter built the way the arcade ones were: hand-authored stages rather than random waves, so every enemy arrives somewhere for a reason and the stage is something you learn rather than survive.
Power cells drop as you fight, and you decide what they buy — speed, missiles that run along the ground to reach what a flat shot cannot, a laser that becomes one unbroken lance across the screen, a shield across your nose, or up to three satellites that mirror everything you fire. Fly a desert dawn, then a neon sprawl of bridges and tower blocks you have to thread rather than dodge, and take a capital ship apart gun by gun until its core is open.
What's inside
A Gradius-style power bar: bank cells and choose speed, missiles, laser, shield or satellites — and take a weapon twice to upgrade it.
Heavy, all-rounder or light. Same arsenal on each; they differ in how they fly and how hard every shot lands.
The scenery is solid. Rock, bridges and tower blocks block your shots and theirs, and the ground is a hazard in its own right.
Strip a capital ship gun by gun and each kill shows — sockets burn, and the core only opens when the guns are gone.
A gentler pace for younger pilots — the patterns keep their shape, they just thin out and slow down.
No advertising, no analytics, no accounts. Just pure arcade joy.
